Toronto-based producer, Jason Hopfner, a.k.a. Knowing Looks has just unleashed his new 10″ release on WNCL Recordings. Already being caned by new visionaries such as red hot techy/dubstepper 2562 (a.k.a. A Made up Sound), Pariah (R&S) and Blawan (Hessle Audio), Knowing Looks is doing his part repping Toronto in a Bass music scene largely dominated by Europeans.
Abandoned Skips is a relentless dancefloor mover with an irresistable 2-step beat and complementary shuffle. Added swathes of funky synths and well placed vocal chants make this track a tight crowdpleaser.
The B side is really a second A side. Last Kiss at the Plains Motel is a mastery of cut-up production and arrangements that encapsulates an electronic tale of love and loss.
